Answers to common Fresh Ice questions: how progress saves, moving to a new device, playing offline, sound, ads and resetting.

This page answers the questions players ask most often about Fresh Ice. For help with the game itself, start with the beginner's guide.

Playing

Is Fresh Ice free?

Yes. The whole game is free to play in your browser. It is supported by a small number of ads, described below. There is nothing to buy with real money: machines and power-ups in The Shed are paid for with Tips you earn in the game.

What do I need to play?

A reasonably modern web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There is no download and no app store.

What are the keyboard controls?

The arrow keys or W, A, S and D point the machine up, left, down or right. Escape or P pauses the game. You can also click a spot on the ice to drive straight to it, just like tapping.

What happens if the puck-drop clock runs out?

Nothing bad. The clock switches to LATE and you keep going until the rink is clean. Finishing late just means fewer stars: three for beating the clock, two for finishing a little late, and one for finishing at all.

Can I replay levels?

Yes. Open Venues from the home screen, pick a venue, and choose any level you have reached. Only your best star result for each level is kept, so replaying can never lower your score.

Saving your progress

Do I need an account?

No. Your progress saves automatically in your browser on the device you are using, with no sign-in. That includes your levels, stars, Tips, machines and power-ups.

What if I clear my browser data or switch devices?

Progress saved only in the browser is tied to that browser on that device. If you clear your site data, use a private window, or move to a different phone or computer, it will not come with you. To keep a copy you can restore, use the Sign in button on the home screen. The game also suggests this every so often after a level, until you are signed in.

How does the cloud copy work?

The Sign in button offers three options, and all are optional:

The cloud copy is the same progress the game already keeps in your browser. How that data is handled is explained in the privacy policy.

How do I start over?

Choose Reset progress at the bottom of the home screen. It wipes your levels, stars, Tips, machines and power-ups, and if you are signed in, the copy in your account as well. It cannot be undone, so the game asks you to confirm first.

Offline play

Does Fresh Ice work without an internet connection?

Yes, once you have opened it online at least once. After that first visit the game is stored by your browser, so it opens and plays with no connection, on a plane or underground, for example. A short notice tells you when you are offline. Your progress keeps saving on the device, and if you are signed in it syncs again when you are back online.

Many browsers also let you add the game to your home screen from their menu, so it opens like an app.

Sound

How do I turn the sound off?

Use the Sound button on the home screen, or open the pause menu during a level. The setting is remembered next time you play.

Ads

What ads does Fresh Ice show?

Ads are kept light:

The game pauses and goes quiet while an ad is showing, so you never lose time on the clock. Ads may not be available everywhere or all the time.

Everything else

Who makes Fresh Ice?

Fresh Ice is made by Always Blue Software LLC, a small independent studio in Georgia, USA. Read more on the About page, and see the terms of use.

How do I report a bug or get in touch?

Email info@absftw.com. Mention the level number and your device and browser if you can.

That covers the common questions, so the next step is simple: open the game and get the machine out on the ice.

Play Fresh Ice

Drive the resurfacer and turn chewed-up ice into perfect glass before puck drop. Free in your browser, no download or account needed.
